All systems operational - request for comment on dorm bandwidth

All systems are operational at this time.  If you are a resident user, ITS would appreciate your comments on bandwidth performance over the past 24 hours.  Changes were implemented that should show improvement in some areas.  We would like to know what is working better than before and what is not working or working poorer than before.

UDM Email Blacklisted by Comcast and others

UDM appears to be blacklisted by a number of servers including Comcast.  If you experience a bounce-back from an address you have successfully sent to and believe to still be active in the past and the bounce-back indicates some type of security issue, it may be related to our blacklisted status.

 

ITS will work the channels to clear our good name and restore e-mail communications to these sites as quickly as possible.

Bandwidth Adjustments

Significant changes have been implemented to provide more bandwidth to the resident students.  Any feedback on performance would be most appreciated.  Of course, access to P2P type sites may still be slow.  YouTube seems to be slow at times as well.

We are pleased to report all WIFI access points are fully operation.  UDM has over 200 AP’s across all three campuses.

Wireless Outage - Update

The wireless outage affecting the McNichols campus has been resolved. Network access was restored at approximately 1:00 pm.

Bandwidth Adjustments Implemented

After monitoring internet utilization since late August, ITS has implemented a number of changes to the allocations across the 24 hours of utilization.  We will continue to monitor utilization.  Should you experience extreme slowness for legal activities, please report this to ITS by way of helpdesk ticket.  http://helpdesk.udmercy.edu  Please indicate the date, time and site or process you were trying to perform.

Blackboard system restart scheduled for 10/20 7:30 a.m.

Blackboard learn system requires a restart to apply software changes. This restart is scheduled for 10/20 at 7:30 a.m. and will cause service outage that may take up to 5 minutes. If you are using system by that time, please log out at 7:30 to prevent possible lost of your data.

This software update should fix problem with timed test, reported on IE 8.

Scheduled maintenance on Helpdesk systems Mon. Oct. 19 7:30 a.m.

ITS has scheduled maintenance and upgrade of hardware and software for Monday, October 19, 7:30 a.m. to improve reliability and availability on different systems. Expected downtime for systems is 1 hour. Affected systems are ITS helpdesk, Facilities Helpdesk, HR Helpdesk and Financial Aid systems.

Listserver - Update

The listserver is processing mail once again. Due to a corrupted list, most inbound messages to the lists were never processed. Unfortunately, if a message was sent to a list and was not processed through, the message will need to be resent.

It was discovered today that the listserver is not processing messages sent to it. IT staff are looking into it. At this time we cannot say whether messages sent to the list during this time will be processed through or need to be resent. Please stay tuned.
