ITS is still working on finding the root cause of some sporadic connection issues. All services are currently operating normally. Please post a comment if you experienced or are experiencing a connection issue to tc.udmercy.edu. It would be helpful if you could put the approximate time you experienced the issue within the comment.

Blacklisted

We appear to be blacklisted by major e-mail sites including AT&T, SBCGlobal, etc. Poor judgment within our community led to people being deceived and giving out their passwords only to be exploited and to result in too much SPAM going through their accounts to various servers. Those servers have now blocked us down. We’re working to clear our good name.

Messages sent to site blacklisting UDM will result in a returned message stating in one form or another that the message could not be delivered.

Please don’t ever give up your user code and password to anyone!!!

Registration for Fall Term in TitanConnect - Going Very Well

We’re hoping users are finding the new TitanConnect system a refreshing experience compared to registrations for Fall of the past.  No need to look back to last year or the year before or the year before that or the year before that one either.  Two days without serious hiccups on the system is a very good start.  Students with login issues should get in touch with the Helpdesk for assistance.  No need to wait, try logging into the portal now and seeing if you are ready to register.  If your time has arrived for registration, go for it.

TitanConnect - Maintenance at 8:00 pm, March 11, 2009

At 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, ITS will be taking down the TitanConnect portal for one hour to complete maintenance work in preparation for registration.  Attempts to access the system during that time will display a warning screen regarding this event.  Once the warning screen goes away and the login screen appears, you may log in and begin to use the system.

 

Access to Blackboard, Wimba and TurnItIn will remain available during this time.

TitanConnect Parallel Deployment Successfully Completed

After a marathon session starting Friday morning at 7:30 am and a public start at 6:00 pm through to Saturday at 11:30 am, the Web Services team and Senior Network Manager are pleased to report UDM has its first fully functional parallel deployment environment in place for production use.

This environment was put in place in anticipation of all UDM students coming into the TitanConnect environment for registration starting March 16 and eventually all student e-mail moving onto this platform as well.

Please feel free to log in and use the system to it full capability. If you notice any issues, please report them to through a helpdesk ticket at http://helpdesk.udmercy.edu. Please don't assume others will report, we'd like to hear from all.

There are two known issues that we encountered during our test run of the parallel deployment that require additional work. You need not report on these known issues.

Issue #1, some tabs on the portal page may be misnamed or carry the same name as another personal tab. Please proceed with renaming your tab back to what it originally was.

Issue #2, something we have seen in the past and resolved and something we hope to address as quickly as possible. E-mail users (thus only faculty and staff) may find that once they log off the portal that there e-mail session remains open. The X button the email screen does not properly function but if you go to the calendar tab in the e-mail and click on logout, this will properly log you out of that environment. Ultimately, once you logout of the portal you should also be cleared out of your e-mail account.

Kudos to the Luminis team who have implemented the new solution.

TitanNet down for hard drive repair and preventative maintenance

TitanNet users please note your home and groups directories will be unavailable between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm today while a bad-drive is swapped out and preventative maintenance procedures are completed.

All TitanNet users should be logged off prior to 6:00 pm.

TitanConnect Upgrade to Parallel Domain - Down Fri 6:00 pm

Just a quick reminder that UDM’s TitanConnect environment which includes Faculty/Staff e-mail, the portal, Banner INB and Banner SSB will be unavailable starting at 6:00 pm tonight. As per the message sent on Wednesday evening, a new parallel domain environment with load balancing, fault tolerance and expansion capability will be installed in anticipation of our UDM students using the TitanConnect system for registration starting March 16.

Please be certain to log-off your e-mail, portal, INB and SSB accounts prior to 6:00 pm.

We anticipate access available on Saturday at 12:00 pm.

Voice-Mail Restored

Voice-mail service has been restored.  An update that took place yesterday at 8:00 am created a few unexpected problems.  The problems have been resolved.

The voice-mail system is presently down. We are working to bring this back online as soon as possible.

McNichols Home and Group drive UPDATE

The McNichols domain controller/server is back up and functional. You MAY need to logoff and log back in order to gain access to your network drives.

We are expecting some replacement parts tomorrow (Tuesday), and we may need to schedule emergency repairs during regular business hours if the situation calls for it. We will notify everyone if we will be brining down the server for such repairs.

McNichols Home and Group drives down

We have experienced a hardware failure in one of our domain controller servers on Titannet. You may see "disconnect" messages repeating while it is down.

Your H: (home) and G: (group) drives, as well as some other drives may be missing until we repair the server. We do not know at this time if this machine may be fixed without having to replace hardware, or if we will have to call emergency service to replace parts.

We will keep this blog updated as we find answers.
