UPDATED - Microsoft Two-Factor Authentication is Unavailable

Microsoft has informed us that the issue has been resolved. If you are still experiencing issues you can contact the Help Desk at 313-993-1500

 

 

Some users are experiencing an issue when trying to log into Office 365 where the pass code is not being sent to their cell phone. We have opened a ticket with Microsoft to resolve the issue. There is no ETA at this time but check back often as all updates will be posted here as they become available.

McNichols - Network Potential Outages this Week

ITS will be repairing fiber connections in select buildings according to the following schedule this week:

 

Tuesday

8:00 AM – Chemistry

9:30 AM – Briggs

11:00 AM – Architecture

12:30 PM – Library

 

Wednesday

*8:00 AM – Life Sciences

9:30 AM – Calihan Hall

12:30 PM – C&F

 

There may be periods of outages around these times only at these locations.

 

ITS and our contractors will work to restore service as quickly as possible.

Secured access within the Library DSpace environment is currently down.  ITS is working to restore access as quickly as possible.

McNichols Network Maintenance starting Wednesday, October 20, 2021 @ 5:00 PM *See comment for change to schedule.

Please be advised the ITS department will be repairing interbuilding fiber services according to the schedule below.

 

Initially, the entire McNichols campus will be temporarily down for 1.5 hours starting at 9:00 PM on Wednesday. After that, select buildings will experience an additional hour of down time per the schedule below.

 

While the McNichols Campus is entirely down, O365 and Blackboard will continue to work without issue. my.udmercy.edu, self-service, WWW and other McNichols hosted services will be unreachable. Connections to these McNichols hosted services from Corktown, Riverfront or other locations will be temporarily down.

Change to Blackboard Logins Starting Saturday 8/14

Please be advised Blackboard may not be available until 3:00 PM (as previously announced).

 

Beginning Saturday August 14, you will log into Blackboard using your Detroit Mercy Office 365 username and password – the username and password you use to log into your email.

Blackboard will be unavailable Saturday August 14th from 9AM until 3PM as this change is implemented.

 

 

Once the change is in place

When you visit https://blackboard.udmercy.edu you’ll be presented with the same login page you see when going to your email. If you have already logged into your email before going to Blackboard, you’ll be sent directly to your Blackboard courses list.

Because anyone signed into Blackboard will also be signed into the University’s Office 365 services, students and faculty can move seamlessly between Office 365 applications and Blackboard. This means, for example, that when folks click a Blackboard link to a Stream video they will be taken straight to the video – no additional login required. Faculty will also be able to embed videos from Stream instead of linking to them, without worry that students will see a message that they need to log in to see the video. Access to Teams meetings or OneDrive files that require an @udmercy.edu login to view or edit will be similarly streamlined.

Best of all, because Blackboard authentication will now be hosted off-campus, Blackboard will be accessible even if the McNichols campus suffers an internet outage.



If you get an error when you visit Blackboard

Login errors are most often the result of having logged into Office 365 more than two hours before visiting Blackboard.

To resolve this issue, go to https://www.office.com and sign out. Once you’ve signed out of Office 365, you should be able to sign back into Blackboard / Office 365 without issue. To avoid seeing these errors in the future, we strongly recommend you use a supported browser (Firefox or Chrome) and log out of Blackboard / Office 365 when you are done with your session.

Please be advised we have just received a last minute notice that DTE will be taking down our internet connection from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM today to repair flooding issues.

Corktown/UHC IT Services Down due to storm damage

Please be advised, the inter-campus connection between the Corktown and UHC campuses to the McNichols campus sustained some damage from this past Friday night storms.  ITS has worked over the weekend to route the majority of traffic around this damage however, there are some services at Corktown and UHC that are presently not available.

 

These include:

 

  • Connectivity between UHC and Corktown
  • Application Navigator
  • Other McNichols hosted services

 

Axium, WIFI and Blackboard should function fine.

 

We will continue our effort to restore these services as soon as possible.

 

Should you require access to Application Navigator for your job during this outage, you are more than welcome to use the McNichols Campus Quad Commons lab.  Please bring your University ID with you to show the lab attendant for entry.  Your ID will allow you to scan yourself into the Quad Commons building.
