Actually, I can't view my email.
Supporting the comment submitted at 9:36 a.m., the ability to view email was available until around 9:15a. Now, not possible.
Earlier I could send and view email on TitanConnect, but only view it in mac mail (I got errors with the outgoing email server trying to send email). Now nothing works.
Replacement hardware is expected within the hour and a quick rebuild should put things back in service. Queued email will then be processed. From this point, optimistically it looks like around 90 minutes before mail is flowing.
Is there a new estimated time the e-mail will be back up?
We anticipate it to be up within the hour.
And your next guess is?
I'm sure it'll be within the hour.
We've had a set back with the restore of a config file. All mail is still being queued but just not processed through. The rebuild of the config file will take us into the evening. More detail as it becomes available.
I will say that emails I sent this morning have not yet arrived at their desitantions...
I still am not able to send emails although I just received one from another faculty member.
It took seven hours to acknowledge there was a setback. Other than that, "within the hour" was the mantra. This does not inspire any sort of confidence, especially since the first note from IT was about ten hours after the failure.
It does seem like it's taking a remarkably long time to fix a hardware problem with an SMTP server, and no real details are forthcoming.
Why would you have a setback with the "restore" of a config file? I suspect they ordered the wrong piece of hardware and we will have to face further delays!
This is a little upsetting.
I got one email yesterday--one. That just doesn't happen. I wonder how many of my students are trying to reach me...?
For the 5:04 AM poster:
What I did was to post on my blackboard site an off-campus e-mail address, noting that this should only be sued during this emergency.
One potential lingering problem from this. We have been trying to get students to use their UDM address for their school related e-mail. This incident may make them less likely to do that.
As of 8:22 am this morning mail is flowing through. Over 50,000 queued messages are in the process of being delivered.
