Blackboard Maintenance Monday, July 2 at 7:30 a.m.

Blackboard published software patches to resolve number of reported software issues. Installation of these patches requires Blackboard service to be shut down. We plan on performing this action in the standard Blackboard Maintenance time frame, Monday morning on July 2 starting at 7:30 a.m. Expected downtime is up to 2 hour.
Please close open sessions and log out of Blackboard before 7:30 a.m. to avoid possible loss of data. Check this blog for updates on this operation.

East Quad Reported Down

Remote reports that connectivity in East Quad is completely down at this time and ITS will investigate this on Monday morning.

 

Fitness Center Camera Down

The camera is unexpectedly down and ITS will investigate the issue on Monday.

UPDATE - Regional Network Issue

The interruption in UDM internet service was caused by a power outage at our ISP co-location   located on the Wayne State Campus.  This was caused by a compromised cable located near the Wayne State Campus. The power was restored at 3:00 am this morning.

Description:
Power to the building on Wayne State's campus that caused the earlier 
loss of connectivity for your organization has been restored.

Comment:
An underground cable around the Woodward and Hastings area was 
compromised; this was brought back online by the power provider by 
the end time indicated in this notice.

Regional Network Issue - Per ISP

Our Internet Service Provider is reporting an issue starting at 8:30 pm affecting the area.  We are awaiting word of the cause and resolution.  Please bear with us.  Resident students will be unaffected by this however access to UDM resources such as TitanConnect, Knowledge and WWW servers are down for all.

that rely on a connection to WSU for their connectivity.

ODS8PROD: Online after Brief Outage 6/14/12 2:01 PM

ODS8PROD is back online. It went down for about 2 minutes. Is is available again. Thank you, ITS Dept.

Network Interruption on Corktown and Law Campuses Today


Today,Thursday, June 14, 2012, there will be a couple unavoidable network interruptions that will impact communication between our campuses.  We regret having one of these outages occur during normal business hours but we have a very limited window of time available to address issues at our Internet Service Provider’s colocation site which hosts some of the University’s critical network equipment.  The work on this day completes the work begun on May 30, 2012.

Starting at 1:00 pm, connectivity to the Law Campus into and out of the campus will be down until 5:00 pm.  Should the work be completed prior to that time (and we are optimistic it will be), service will be restored as soon as it is available.  Connections originating from the Law School campus to the Internet, TitanConnect and other McNichols servers will be down during this time.  Network connections within the Law Campus to Law servers will remain available at all times.

Starting at 5:00 pm, connectivity to the Dental Campus into and out of the campus will be down until 9:00 pm.  Should the work be completed prior to that time (and we are optimistic it will be), service will be restored as soon as it is available.  Connections originating from the Dental School campus to the Internet, TitanConnect and other McNichols servers will be down during this time.  Network connections within the Dental Campus to Dental servers (including Axium) will remain available at all times.  Connections from UHC to Axium will be down during this time.

Email sent from the McNichols campus or outside the University to the Law and Dental campuses during these outages will be delivered and will be readable  once the campus has regained network access or if the user has accessed from a location outside of the campus.

Cascade services will be unavailable beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 13th while the system is upgraded. We expect Cascade services to be restored by 4:00 p.m. June 13th. Please check the blog for updates during the upgrade.

Update : 10:15 a.m.   The upgrade is in process and on schedule.

ITS Services During the McNichols Scheduled Power Outage

To reduce the risk of potential problems resulting from the electrical work taking place early Saturday Morning on the McNichols campus, all McNichols servers will be powered down.

 

TitanConnect, Blackboard, Internet Access, all udmercy.edu web services and TitanNet will be shut-down around 2:30 AM and brought back up within 3 hours after the power has been restored.  Critical servers will be brought online first and will be available soon after the power has been restored.  It may take up to three hours for all systems to be brought back online.

 

During this outage, incoming e-mail may be queued on the sender's e-mail system or bounced back to the original sender depending on how the sender’s e-mail servers are configured to handle messages to downed sites.

 

Access to the servers at the Corktown campus will not be affected by this outage however access to McNichols based servers will not work.  Internet service from Corktown will continue to work fine for sites outside of the udmercy.edu domain.

 

Access to the servers at the Law campus will not be affected by this outage however access to McNichols based servers will not work.  Internet service from Law will continue to work fine for sites outside of the udmercy.edu domain.

 

Voice-mail for all campuses will be down during this outage as well as the 993-1000 automatic operator.

TitanConnect Maintenance

TitanConnect(http://tc.udmercy.edu) web servers will be restarted Thursday, June 7th between 7:00 and 7:15 am.  Users are strongly advised to close all sessions and log out to avoid possible loss of some or all work.  This maintenance will not affect client based email or exchange users.

Update June 7, 7:07 a.m.  Maintenance has been completed.

LIstserver Issues - Update

The listserver issues have been resolved. A service failed to start after the power outage. The cause has been addressed.

Network monitoring tools are showing Law School campus connection to McNichols and Internet temporarily down. ITS staff are working to address the issue.

Listserver Issues

Unrelated to the power outage, the listserver is acting up and not accepting messages from some lists. ITS staff will look into this today.
