Office 365 email and Outlook Clients Not Functional at this Time
At 3:30 PM Microsoft communicated they are working to resolve a problem with their email system. We are awaiting further details from them at this time.
In addition to the email problem, I cannot access this ITS blog on the university network. I have to use the LTE data on my phone to access the blog. The university network error message is a gateway anti-virus alert from sonic wall gateway name: downloader.KL_236

User Impact: Users may be unable to access their mailboxes through Exchange Online via all connection methods.
More info: Users who are able to access the service may be unable to send or receive email, and admins may be unable to access the Exchange admin center. Additionally, this issue may affect other services that rely on data within Exchange Online, such as calendar availability within Microsoft Teams, or teachers and students ability to use assignments within Microsoft Teams for Education.
Current status: We've completed our initial validation of the solution and are preparing to begin deployment to the affected infrastructure, which we expect will begin within the next hour.
Scope of impact: Due to the nature of the issue, the impact of this event will vary in severity for different customers, with some users experiencing minor to no service degradation while others may be unable to access Exchange services entirely.
Our configuration updates are taking longer than anticipated. Concurrently, we’re narrowing down alternate mitigation options for faster relief to customers. More information is available to admins via EX225938 in the admin center.

User Impact: Users may have been unable to access their mailboxes through Exchange Online via all connection methods.
More info: This notice was related to EX225938. Our analysis indicates that a subset of customers were significantly more impacted than others, and this message was intended to provide continued updates to those more impacted customers as our remediation efforts progress.
We apologize for the impact to your organization stemming from this event, and the remediation effort described here was our absolute highest priority.
In addition to the impact described above, users who were able to access the service may have been unable to send or receive email, and admins may have been unable to access the Exchange admin center.
Final status: We've confirmed via monitoring and customer reports that this issue is resolved.
Scope of impact: Our analysis indicated that some customers’ users were significantly impacted by this issue, and this message was intended to provide additional notice and updates to those customers.

Root cause: A configuration issue was preventing our systems from processing traffic in an efficient manner, causing impact. As additional analysis is underway, we will provide further details in the post-incident report.
Next steps: - We're performing a detailed analysis of the configuration issue to fully understand why it caused service impact and to prevent similar issues from occurring the future. - We're reviewing our monitoring services to look for ways to reduce detection time and more quickly restore service.
