College/Department Web Server Maintenance

Between 10:00 p.m. December 26th and 1:00 a.m. December 27th the College/Department web server will have periodic service interruptions of between 5 and 15 minutes due to web server upgrades. During this time period the following sites will be affected :

All systems are back up after power failure

All previously-reported systems are back up and functional. Please let us know if you still are having problems with anything at this point.

Several Systems are Down

Home and Group drives for much of McNichols Campus as well as Exchange Email services are currently down. We are looking at possble power problems, and are working to restore these services. If you notice any other network services that are down, please post a reply to this blog posting.

Mainframe requires another reboot 7:23 PM

The mainframe spooler product has locked the mainframe. It requires another reboot to correct this. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will have it up as soon as possible. SHamilton, ITS Dept.

Exchange Email down briefly

It was brought to our attention that the Exchange Email server was not functioning correctly at about 1:00pm today. We corrected it by 1:15pm. You should not have to do anything to reconnect your Outlook to the Exchange server. It is automatic.

Apecs and Weblink are available

Apecs and Weblink are now available. A backup job was preventing the system from coming up. This has been corrected. SHamilton, ITS Dept.

MSN/Hotmail e-mails accepted 12/19 8:00 a.m.

MSN/Hotmail users can get UDM e-mails delivered; MSN lifted the ban affecting delivery of e-mails sent by UDM e-mail system.

Weblink back up until 10 PM

Weblink came back online a few minutes ago. It will shut down for nightly processing of batch runs at it's usual time of 10 PM. ITS Dept.

Admissions Server Down

System appears to be unreachable at this time.  Staff will investigate at 8:00 am.

Weblink Having Problems

Weblink is experiencing problems. ITS is currently working on it. Thank you.

EMAS / Admissions server down

The Admissions server is having issues after a power outage this weekend. We have no estimate for resolving the issue at this time. It does NOT appear to be a very serious hardware or software issue.

Cascade Content Management Online

The Cascade Server Web content management system is back online. Please be advised that content changes made between 11:57 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. will have to be resubmitted, but are already on the website if they were published.

Cascade Content Management Offline

Users of the Cascade Server Web content management system will temporarily be unable to edit their content while an access/permissions issue is resolved. Changes already published to the live Web servers will remain published and all university web sites will continue to be available. No time estimate is currently available for restoration of service. For emergency changes please put in a Help Desk ticket at http://helpdesk.udmercy.edu

Email Servers Blacklisted

As a result of several compromised e-mail accounts that were used for spamming, several university e-mail servers were blacklisted by the major e-mail sites. ITS is working with these sites to have our addresses cleared from their blacklists. This takes time.

For future reference, please never respond to any e-mail asking you for your user name or password no matter how legit it looks. ITS NOR ANY UDM DEPARTMENT WILL EVER ASK YOU OR REQUIRE THIS INFORMATION BY EMAIL.
