The Information Technology Services department wishes all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
From 12/23/08 at 5:00 PM to 1/2/09 at 7:30 AM all of our systems will be on auto-pilot. While you are enjoying the break, the ITS staff will also take some “downtime”.
During this period all websites, Blackboard server, e-mail servers and our cable stations will run as normal. In the event there is a technical problem, you may report it to ITS by posting a comment on the ITS blog at http://udm-its.blogspot.com. When you post a comment on the blog, an ITS staff member is immediately notified by pager. We will try to reach the appropriate staff person to attempt to resolve the problem and we will use the ITS blog as the place for two-way communication. By using the blog, everyone has the opportunity to see two-way communications on reported issues and the current status.
Tickets submitted into the Helpdesk system will be periodically looked at, as well as messages on the Helpdesk phone line listened to, and answered when possible or upon return to campus.
Merry Christmas,

We have been informed there was a power outage at MCN. Most services are back. If on campus, several Eng access points, all of Chemistry (wired and wireless) and one access point in the Library are down. Channels 60 and 61 are down. Titannet is also down.
We will try to have TitanNet up tomorrow afternoon. (Christmas day)
Cannot access e-mail via internet (exchange server) or phone (Blackberry) since 5pm on 12/24/08. I know it is Christmas, but a prompt response would be appreciated. - D. Montgomery (Athletics)
Daron, it is looking more like late tonight that we will have someone in. With Titannet down, Exchange appears to be down as well. Sorry for the long delay.
Its now looking more like late morning before we can bring staff in on-site.
I have not been able to access my e-mail since 12/24/08
Clarence, are you a student or staff?
I am a student at the law school. My email address is walshcm@students.udmercy.edu. Thank you so much for your help.
All systems are up and functioning correctly. The power outage definitely affected 4 systems including Student Email, Home and Group drives, Exchange Email, and SAN storage.
seems no service from any udmercy.edu servers...tried e-mail, knowledge, even www.udmercy.edu - no connection
The senior network manager is presently working to determine the cause of the problem and a resolution. Stay tuned.
Networking staff will be in Monday morning to attempt to restore service.
Not sure if IT is aware yet but currently we cannot access e-mail on Exchange. The Exchange server URL is giving a message of not found. This affects the entire athletics staff. With a couple basketball games this week, your help in getting this resolved ASAP is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Keri Gaither
Is there another power outage? I have not been able to access e-mail from off campus since 10:00pm on 12/28/08
Email and Blackboard is still down this morning.
Is faculty email via titanconnect down?
Jonathan
I'm a law school student and our email and the law school's website is down too.
Thank you,
Jamie
Yes, all internet service is presently down. The senior network manager is on-site working on the issue; he has to visit both the MCN and Maccabbees sites to diagnose the issue. More info to come as available.
Issue with bridge between MCN and Maccabbees. Support call placed to vendor and vendor is expected to be on-site within the next hour. Stay tuned.
Faculty email (titanconnect) is up but sluggish. Can't sign on to Blackboard still.
Still not able access email but was able to get into Blackboard.
The University may be closed for break, but some of us have work to do and need to continue to communicate through e-mail. Someone needs to be responsible for seeing that e-mail continues to function 24/7!!!!!
A faculty member
I have to second that.
Would it be possible to get an update as to when titanconnect will be fully restored?
Here is the situation at the moment. We've had staff in all day working on this issue and brought out contractors to address the problem. Our focus has been more on a solution and we regret we haven't been able to keep this blog up to date to the satisfaction of everyone.
While the connection to the network is operational we cannot guarantee its stability. The manufacturers of some of our network equipment are analyzing logs and we await their response. We're pressing for results and a final resolution as soon as possible.
Titannet and Exchange should be reachable.
A lingering issue from the 12/24 power outage that affected Titannet is the rights to the Banner Project drive (aka Z Drive) and the rights to the FinAid group drive need to be repaired. The Payroll manager has been fixed as well as the project manager to get through the break; all others will be restored on or after the 2nd. If there is a more immediate need, state it here on this blog with details.
If there is another portion of Titannet or Exchange down, please post it here.
If there is another portion of TitanConnect down, please post details.
For those that need to work 24/7 you may find working on campus is more reliable than working off campus.
There appears to be a power problem on campus (not sure if its related to the weather) that has knocked everything down several times in the past few days. There's always a chance for another power outage.
I tried to log in to Tittan Connect and received a screen that said my password expired and to create a new one. I am hesitant to provide a new password without confirming this is a legitimate request. Please advise.
We appreciate your cautiousness in regard to such requests.
Titannet and TitanConnect passwords are required to change per University policy every 90 days.
If you believe it to be about 90 days since you last set it, it is probably safe. If you receive this when logging in, its probably safe as well.
If you received the request to change your password in an e-mail or elsewhere, its probably not legit.
I could not access my e-mail through the internet as the system indicated that my password was incorrect. Now I am frozen out of my account.
I also could not log into my computer at the law school campus in my office as the windows did not recognize my log in password.
Please advise.
Thank you.
Joon, for the TitanConnect password to be reset, click on the "forgot password" on the tc.udmercy.edu page and answer your own security questions. Get them right and you are good to go.
As for your log in on the Law network, you will need to follow up with Munir on that one.
Thank you for the quick reply. Even after entering the correct information, there was a message indicating that the account has been disabled and to contact the administrator. Can you unlock my account?
Joon, your account has been unlocked.
Who knows where to download XRumer 5.0 Palladium?
