Title: Some users unable to receive Microsoft Teams conferences or Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls
User Impact: Users may have been unable to receive Microsoft Teams or PSTN calls.
More info: In cases where the calls were processed, users may have experienced a delay of up to 30 seconds before receiving Microsoft Teams and PSTN calls.
Final status: Following our system log analysis, we've identified a subsection of networking infrastructure that dropped below our manageable service performance thresholds, preventing users from receiving Microsoft Teams and PSTN calls. We've rerouted traffic to an alternate subsection of networking infrastructure and confirmed this remediated impact.
Scope of impact: Impact was specific to a subset of users who were served through the affected infrastructure.
Start time: Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 4:30 PM UTC
End time: Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 8:31 PM UTC
Root cause: A subsection of networking infrastructure dropped below our manageable service performance thresholds, preventing users from receiving Microsoft Teams and PSTN calls.
Next steps:
- We're analyzing performance data on the affected systems to determine why they dropped below service performance thresholds and identify ways to prevent this problem from happening again.
This is the final update for the event.
