Cascade Server and

The Cascade CMS server and server are currently down. Web Services is currently working to restore these services.

Cascade and Blog services restored. Its continues to investigate cause of outage.

Network and internet connectivity has been restored at Law schoo.

McNichols Wireless - UPDATE

Wireless service at the McNichols Campus has been restored.

McNichols campus wireless services is currently experiencing and outage. ITS staff is working on a solution.

Outage Resolved

An internal issue with our DHCP server was preventing users from logging in this morning.  The issue has been resolved.  Any user still unable to log in should restart their computer.  If log in is still not possible, please contact the ITS Helpdesk.

TITANNET Network Issue

There was a slight networking issue that made TITANNET (shared drives and logon server) to become unresponsive for a period of time. The server was reset as part of fixing this issue. Since this server is setup for persistent connections, it should have reconnected your machine as soon as the server was back online.

However, if you are currently receiving an "offline" folders message in your taskbar, you will need to restart your machine and log back into the domain. Total estimated downtime was about 10 minutes.

Bandwidth Reallocated based on Term to Date Utilization

As we typically do, the allocations for bandwidth have been adjusted based on usage patterns during the first part of the term.  ITS monitors bandwidth usage closely and adjusts our allotment accordingly to ensure bandwidth is available where needed.  Please note, speeds should be fine.  We have seen more than a small number of computers that are operating slower than optimal and this appears to be the result of rogue toolbar installs as well as other programs (spyware, malware, virus’, etc.).  To improve your performance, please fine tune your systems configuration and applications.


Reports on performance (good or bad) are welcomed.  Please indicate location and computer details when submitting a response.  Please feel free to post to this blog entry or e-mail

Problems with bouncing e-mails solved 09/10 8:15 a.m.

ITS manage to remove block on e-mails. Again, please don't give your user ID and/or password, you use to access UDM resources, to ANY unsolicited provocation, no matter how convincing or genuine it may appear.


Blackboard maintenance scheduled Monday 10/13 7:30 - 8:00 a.m.

Blackboard needs couple of adjustments on software side; to activate these, system restart is required. We expect this service outage to be no longer than 30 minutes. This maintenance action is planned for Monday morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. If you are using Blackboard at this time, please close your work and log out to prevent loss of data.


MSN Hotmail e-mail bounce 09/10 7:30 a.m.

MSN (Microsoft) Hotmail is rejecting e-mails. ITS is working to remove MSN block as soon as possible. We sorry for your inconvenience; please keep in mind that this is result of UDM users providing spammers/phishing action with user ID and password to their account. Users doing this are not only inconveniencing rest of the UDM community, they open the door to their sensitive personal data.

Content Database Server Online

The content database system has been returned to service.

Content Database Server Failed

The Content database server is experiencing a hardware issue. We are working to resolve the issue. Online inquiries, application processing, parking permits and the auctor content management system are currently down due to this issue.

Update: Hardware replacement parts are running late. ETA now 2:00 p.m.

Update: Our hardware vendor expects to be on site at 12:30 p.m. with replacement parts.

MSN - Hotmail e-mails rejected 09/07 7:30 a.m.

For yet another breach in e-mail accounts, our e-mails to MSN ISP, and possibly others, is rejected.

ITS is working to restore normal service.
