McNichols Network Outage - 15 minute long - starting at 3:45 pm today



Please be advised there will be a brief network outage on the McNichols campus on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 3:45 pm to 4:00 pm to address some emergency maintenance repairs.  During this time, you may continue to use your computer however, access to services hosted from the McNichols campus will be affected.  Your patience during this brief outage will be most appreciated.

Residence Hall - Re-Restored as of 2:00 pm

Continued reports of the residence hall network services not properly functioning led to IT revisiting the issue.  A workaround is temporarily in place and internet service be functioning as of 2:00 pm today.

TitanConnect Maintenance Completed Saturday Janueary 23rd - 7:00 am to 12:00 pm

Between 7:00 and 9:30 am directory services will be brought offline for service.  Services impacted by this outage include Blackboard/Knowledge and applications serviced by CAS/Shibboleth. Between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm TitanConnect portal service may experience slower than normal response times as other servers are brought offline. 


Update: 11:57 a.m.  The maintenance window has been extended.  Please check this blog for further updates.

Update: 12:50 p.m.  Maintenance has been completed.  All services have been restored.  Thank you for your patience during this outage.

A new email has been seen within the community.  This was not sent by the ITS Department.  Do not click on the link within the email.  Simply mark the message as Junk and delete.

O365 Exchange Service Degradation - IMAP Access

Current Status: Engineers have determined that a code issue has been introduced with a recent build update. The IMAP protocol is unable to automatically load data from Exchange Online databases. Engineers are currently implementing a fix in order to remediate end-user impact.

User Impact: Affected users are unable to receive emails when accessing Exchange Online through the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP). As a workaround, users may be able to access mail via the Outlook Web App (OWA).

Customer Impact: Analysis of incident scope indicates that a limited number of customers appear to be impacted by this event. However, those customers affected likely have a large number of users experiencing impact. Engineers have received a few isolated customer reports of this issue.

Incident Start Time: Monday, January 18, 2016, at 12:00 PM UTC

Estimated Restoration Time: By Friday, January 22, 2016, at 1:00 AM UTC

Preliminary Root Cause: As part of our efforts to improve service performance, an update was deployed to the affected infrastructure; however, the update caused a code issue that prevents the IMAP protocol from automatically loading data from Exchange Online databases.

Systems down – maintenance action Wed 01/20




To remedy consequences of fire we had on Campus Friday, number of systems is taken down for maintenance. These systems are Document Management, Image Now, UDM Survey, Food Services, Card ID, ITS Help Desk, Facilities Help Desk, Vuetura Mailing and Power Clock.
Internet is down for Student Dorms, as well, at this time.
Systems will be returned to service as soon as maintenance action concludes, approximate down time up to 2 hours.  

Student/Faculty/Org Web Server & Sakai Maintenance - 1/20/16 9:00 a.m.

The student/faculty/org web server and Sakai will be offline beginning at 9:00 a.m. this morning for approximately 2 hours for emergency service.

McNichols WIFI is currently down but will be brought back online ASAP.  ETA approximately 45 minutes.

 

Web Server Maintenance 1/19/16 2:30 pm

www.udmercy.edu will be brought offline at 2:30 pm on 1/19/16 2:30 for maintenance.  The outage window is expected to be approximately 2 hours.

College and departmental web servers will experience a temporary outage  between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm.

These 2 testing databases are unavailable while restoration proceeds.

Student Center Phones Down

As a results of today’s building fire, the phone lines in the Student Center are temporarily down.  ITS will work on solutons to bring these back online as soon as possible.

 

Voice-mail and Phone-Tree Down

The University’s main phone tree and voice-mail system are temporarily down.  ITS staff will work to bring them back online tomorrow morning.

 

TitanConnect INB Maintenance - Saturday Jan. 16th 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

ITS will be performing some required server maintenance on Saturday, January 16th from 8:00 a.m. - Noon.  TitanConnect INB will be unavailable during this service window.

This time will used used to deploy new TitanConnect INB servers because the current servers are out-of-date.

This outage will affect ONLY TitanConnect INB Users.  TitanConnect Self-Service, CashNet and ODS/Discoverer will still be available.
