Reminder - Planned Internet Service Down-Time due to Facilities Electrical Work

Per the message from earlier in the week regarding the 6/13 at 8:00 am power shutdown.

Please be aware the power outage to Shiple Residence Hall this Saturday will impact a number of IT related services.

If you are off-campus, you will be unable to access all University websites such as www.udmercy.edu, knowledge.udmercy.edu, it.udmercy.edu, tc.udmercy.edu, helpdesk.udmercy.edu, facilityrequest.udmercy.edu, collegewebsites.udmercy.edu, courseevaluations.udmercy.edu, Weblink, catalog, schedule, etc.). No e-mail will be sent nor received. Incoming messages may be queued by the sender’s mail server or may result in a non-deliverable message to the originator.

If you are on the McNichols campus you will be able to access University web sites however you will not be able to access the Internet. You will be able to send e-mail but it will be queued and delivered after power has been restored to Shiple. Mail sent on the McNichols campus from a udmercy.edu account to a udmercy.edu account will work fine.

If you are on the Law or Dental campuses, you will not be able to access University websites or the Internet during this time.

Access to hosted solutions such as www.detroittitans.com and http://udm-its.blogspot.com will remain available throughout this outage.

Since 3:00 am we have experienced a low flow of internet e-mail coming into UDM.  Outgoing is fine.  Investigating the low-flow situation.

Balckboard/Knowledge available 06/11 8:00 p.m.

Blackboard service and users access was restored at 8:00 p.m. Sorry for inconvenience caused by this outage.


Issues - Appear Resolved

This evening we’ve experienced some unusual activity that appears to have caused Blackboard to go down and TC to temporarily suspend service.  Both are back and operational.  ITS staff will review logs and closely monitor the systems tonight.  If you experience other issues, please let us know via a reply to this blog.

Helpdesk systems maintenance 06/10 7:30 a.m.

Helpdesk system will be taken offline for hardware maintenance and upgrade on Wednesday, June 10, at 7:30 a.m. This affects ITS Helpdesk, Facilities Helpdesk and HR Helpdesk. Estimated outage in service is 1 hour 30 minutes.

Packeteer Upgrade - Update

UPDATE - The ITS staff has completed the upgrade of Packeteer. All internet access has been restored to the University community at this time.

The ITS staff is upgrading our internet traffic management appliance this morning. During the brief restart of the device, internet access for the university will be unavailable. Please check back for further updates

Traffic Issues

UDM is currently experiencing a internet traffic issue with s small set of sites. Currently Oakwood hospital is unable to connect to UDM resources. Other may be affected at this time but ITS is unaware of any others. ITS staff is currently working with our ISP to resolve this issue. Updates will be forth coming.

UPDATE - 1:30p The issue with traffic to and from Oakwood Hospital has been resolved.
