Scope of impact: Impact was specific to users located in Germany.

Calls that don't leverage call queues didn't appear to be affected by this event.

Final status: We've determined that a portion of Skype for Business infrastructure was operating below optimal standards, which prevented calls routed through call queues from connecting. We've restarted the affected infrastructure and confirmed via monitoring that service is restored.

Scope of impact: The problems affected calls that were routed through call queues.

Title: Logged out users unable to access Microsoft Teams through the desktop client

User Impact: Users may have been unable to access the service when attempting to sign in or open the Microsoft Teams desktop client.

More info: The issue affected users who were logging out and logging in to the desktop client, or were signing into their machine for the first time. Users who had previously signed into the client would not have experienced impact

Affected users may have seen a white or blank page when attempting to access the service from the Microsoft Teams desktop client.

While we were focused on remediation, users who have access, were able to leverage Teams web application or mobile app.

Final status: We've determined that a recent service change meant to upgrade the web service infrastructure caused impact to the desktop client. We've rolled back the update and confirmed with some of the affected users and through our telemetry that the impact is resolved issue is resolved.

Scope of impact: The issue affected users who were logging out and logging in to the Teams desktop client, or were signing into their machine for the first time.

Start time: Friday, June 19, 2020, at 12:01 AM UTC

End time: Friday, June 19, 2020, at 7:01 AM UTC

Preliminary root cause: A recent service change meant to upgrade the web service infrastructure caused impact to the desktop client.

Next steps:

- We're reviewing our update procedures to better identify similar issues during our development and testing cycles.

We'll publish a post-incident report within five business days.
