Sorry fro the delay since the last post. We ave been on the phone with Blackboard and are getting close.

Anonymous said...

Any updates? It has been three hours and many are trying to get assignments done in a timely manner.

I really need an update on when blackboard is going to be up and running again. This is putting many students in a unfortunate situation.

up and running in 30 minutes? Its been 3 and a half HOURS. I have tests and assigments due TOMORROW. What a joke.

Anonymous said...

Do we have an estimate as to when Blackboard will be up and running again?

Anonymous said...

Nobody knows anything. This should of been resolved from hours ago.

This is ridiculous I need to finish my assignment on blackboard and cannot get in.

Can IT please provide an update. Students need to be informed of this kind of information. The last update was hours ago. PLEASE

Any updates would be greatly appreciated. Many of us require blackboard to access study materials, assignments, discussion boards, etc. Five hours of downtime is a great burden to us.

Any updates?

This is a fucking joke. No other school in the United States would have their blackboard down for over 5 hours. Absolutely absurd

Can we PLEASE get an update. This has gotten ridiculous

IT, get your act together and update the students. It's absurd that we have wait OVER FIVE HOURS to get a response. Blackboard is a necessary tool for all students and it's frustrating we can't access it.

we pay so much to attend this school and blackboard can't be fixed in a timely fashion. what's up?

Unfortunately as we were working with Blackboard to resolve the issue, a problem with the underlying Oracle database was discovered to be the true source of the problems encountered this morning. Blackboard has engaged Oracle to provide support and we are working with them to try to fix this situation as quickly as we can. Staff have been dedicated to this since first thing this morning and have spent countless hours on the phone working through the technical channels to resolve this as quickly as possible. You may want to work directly with your professors and their contingency plans while this effort continues through the night. We will try to keep you posted as best we can.

As previously mentioned, we look to move off the locally hosted Blackboard solution as quickly as possible which we anticipate will be after the end of Term I.

So when is the estimated time for it to be back up and working???

UDM-ITS said...

We have asked the support vendor but they are unable to provide one at this time. I can assure you it will be as soon as possible. There is nothing more important than to bring this back online as quickly as possible. It's a complex situation requiring Oracle support to implement a solution. If you have a class dependent on Blackboard, follow up with your faculty member on how they would like you to proceed.

UDM-ITS said...

Our drama continues. Still working with the vendor.

Thanks for the updates

UDM-ITS said...

Thank you for your patience. Oracle still is still investigating.

Anonymous said...

It's been down for over 12 hours now.

UDM-ITS said...

Your observation is accurate.

UDM-ITS said...

We are heading into another support call on this shortly.

UDM-ITS said...

Pinging the blog to let you know we remain on the call working toward a resolution. Some progress thus far. More to come.

Any idea of when we can expect it to be up and running? My assignment deadlines are NOT being extended due to this delay.

Anonymous said...

Can students please be given an update with an exact time. All my study material is on blackboard. Really two days without access for students?

Anonymous said...

This is unfair for students whose professors are not making accommodations due to these unforeseen circumstances. The University should establish a plan to make up for this lost academic day.

This is ridiculous.. we pay a lot of money and for 48 hours we have had no access to all of our class information. This is the kind of stuff that makes it impossible for me to want to recommend this school to future students. Everything moves as a snails pace.

UDM-ITS said...

We're just off the phone with support while recovery processes are taking place which we expect to run another hour or so. We will have further updates after that time.

UDM-ITS said...

It has been about an hour and the recovery processes are around 60% completed. This will take a little longer before we have another status update to provide.

Any update???

UDM-ITS said...

We are very close.

OK . Thabja

The Blackboard issue has been resolved and is back up and operational.

The file corruption took place around 11:00 pm on Monday, October 29. Any activity after that time up until the system was brought back up at 6:40 pm was not saved.

Your patience during this time was appreciated.

Your comments understandable.

This outage lasted from 10/29/18 at 11:00 pm through to 10/31/18 at 6:40 pm. Just over 43 hours.

If you notice any further issues, please let us know.
